Project description
The aim of the project is to evaluate the effectiveness of selected available technologies for the removal of PFAS substances from groundwater and, where applicable, from wash waters, including their final disposal. The processes will be tested at a pilot scale using real waters contaminated with PFAS.
The tested technologies will include:
- advanced oxidation processes based on ozone, hydrogen peroxide, and UV radiation (in various combinations), including potential water pre-treatment;
- adsorption on selected carbon-based adsorbents (activated carbon and/or biochar);
- destruction of PFAS on adsorbents by pyrolysis, gasification, or direct incineration.
