The project was launched under the UNDP initiative "Support for Climate Resilience in Tajikistan," financially supported by the Government of the Russian Federation. The main goal was to facilitate access to climate financing measures and contribute to building climate-resilient communities in the disaster-prone mountain areas of Tajikistan.
The study focused on assessing the biophysical and socio-economic impacts of climate change and estimating the total economic losses and damages in the agriculture, forestry, and water management sectors by 2050. Six target districts were selected as pilot areas for the study: Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Gissar, Shaartuz, Fayzabad, Kanibadam, and Muminabad. The study's findings will support the development of future policies and programs aimed at climate change adaptation in Tajikistan, including initiatives for regional cooperation and capacity building in climate-resilient development.
