The first phase of remediation has been ongoing since 2019, with a planned duration until 2023. As part of the preparatory work, we conducted an MIP survey to obtain detailed data on the location of chlorinated hydrocarbon (CHC) contamination and the characteristics of the rock environment. Based on the survey results, we proposed the use of in-situ chemical reduction (ISCR) and biological reductive dechlorination (BRD) technologies for the remediation of the contaminated aquifer.
For the most contaminated layers, we applied nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) using the direct-push method. For biological reductive dechlorination, we ensured the distribution of an organic substrate (whey, totaling 765 m³) into the aquifer using 300 permanent application wells arranged in three lines.
