The project focused on two sites, the former military bases Bien Hoa and Phu Cat in Vietnam. These air bases were heavily contaminated with Agent Orange/dioxins during the Vietnam War. The overall goal of the project was to mitigate any health threats to local populations and environmental damage caused by dioxin contamination.
As part of this project, we developed long-term environmental monitoring plans for both sites and established highly advanced monitoring systems. These systems included a network of monitoring hydrogeological wells, an innovative (passive) surface water monitoring method using SPME technology, and an air quality monitoring system. Concurrently, we conducted awareness-raising campaigns and capacity-building activities.
