More about the project
The landfill was created during the communist era without a bottom liner, which led to the spread of contamination through groundwater into distant areas.
A comprehensive survey using MIP technology was employed to map the contamination plume in the groundwater. The main construction work involved the complete excavation of the landfill body, removal of waste, installation of a new isolation layer, and drainage system. Groundwater remediation was carried out using a combination of traditional and innovative technologies, such as ISCO, in-situ biodegradation, and a pump-and-treat system for water extraction and treatment.
