More about the project
This project, funded by the Czech Development Agency, aimed to develop a conceptual solution for the remediation of the 400/110/35 kV transformer station in Vulcănești.
The site has been contaminated since 1979 due to the explosion of approximately 1,000 capacitors, which caused long-term pollution of the geological environment by PCBs and PCDD/F. The project involved the following activities:
- Detailed pollution survey, including drilling works (boreholes, monitoring wells), sampling, and analysis of soil, groundwater, oil, and air.
- Hydrogeological investigations, including pumping tests on newly drilled wells.
- Data evaluation, environmental risk assessment, feasibility study development, and preparation of a remediation plan.
We provided
- Pollution detection
- Hydrogeological surveys
- Risk assessment
- Feasibility studies
- Planning and design of remediation measures
